While setting up my Meme assignment in Photoshop, I first implemented the background layer which was the image of the person on the stretcher going into the ambulance with healthcare workers. Next, I created a second layer which was a Portrait of Governor Cuomo. I had to use many tools and layers in order to take care of this part of the project. One of the things I did was create a mask for the image of Governor Cuomo. When you create a mask, it is important to realize which layers can be selected in order for a step to occur on what you are working on. At first, I used the magnetic lasso tool so I could create a border around Governor Cuomo which would essentially make the image more defined and it would get rid of the background of the picture he was in. After doing that, I was unhappy about the border around the image of Cuomo's profile so I was able to utilize the brush tool and paint black around the edges so that it would blend in well with the image of the ambulance and health care professionals. Once I started painting over the ambulance door, I had to paint with white so that it would essentially blend in better. I had to keep playing around with this until I was able to get a right fit and I could essentially just have a headshot of Cuomo on the left side of the background image. The final step I did for the project was that I created text so I could turn my image into more of a meme. I used the textbox tool and I made the font a decent enough size so people could read it. I also made the text white so that it would stand out and have clear visibility on the image.
