Doorways on the HPU campus

I was able to work the shot for my photography set of doorways here on HPU’s campus. I was able to use several aspects of composition techniques when I was "working the shot" for my specific theme. Some of the types of composition I used included lines, negative space, symmetry, framing, angles, and layering. I looked at many of the doorways on campus and I was inspired because I thought they brought a unique touch to the architecture of the buildings. I also realized there were several examples of composition within them.

Lines

For the lines category of the photoshoot, I figured this photo gave a good touch upon the composition. I was able to capture a unique angle of the brick walk-way which gave the photo a good touch. The bricks represent the area of the

"lines" in the photo.

Negative Space

The best shot I could find for negative space was the area above the doorframe. There is a lot of blank space with very little complexity. I liked how the plain white background and windows looked right above the doorway.

Symmetry

Although this shot could use some editing, I thought the close-up of the two doors side-by-side looked very symmetrical. I will have to go back and crop out some of the shadows and zoom in on the picture more so that it looks cleaner.
